La Hora Fria: Classic Mexican Horror
Austin Parks and Recreation and the Mexican American Cultural Center (MACC) present a FREE film series by Cine Las Americas. The series, LA HORA FRIA: CLASSIC MEXICAN HORROR will run from October 21 to November 6, 2009 at the MACC (600 River Street, Austin, Texas 78701).
As part of the Mexican Bicentennial celebrations, with the generous support of Alameda Films, Cine Las Americas will showcase a special collection of Mexican horror films at the MACC. The horror genre was not very popular during the first decades of Mexican cinema, yet during the late fifties, an important group of producers, writers and directors ventured with considerable success into the making of horror films.
Call For Entries for the 13th Annual Cine Las Americas International Film Festival
Cine Las Americas announces their call for entries for the 13th Cine Las Americas International Film Festival taking place April 21-29, 2010 in Austin, Texas. Every year the festival offers the best of Latino and indigenous cinema to diverse audiences in Austin. This year, Cine Las Americas International Film Festival will honor Mexico as the featured invited country.
The festival's call for entries is currently open.
Cine Las Americas' Advertisements Win Top Honors
Advertisements from the 12th Cine Las Americas International Film Festival won national recognition at this year's Advertising Age Hispanic Creative Advertising Awards. Austin-based, LatinWorks, a leader in Hispanic advertising industry, created the ads for Cine Las Americas. The honors for the advertisements were announced last week at an Awards Show in Miami, Florida.
Cine Las Americas Presents: El Norte
Cine Las Americas, in collaboration with the Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum, will a present a special screening of the Oscar nominated film El Norte. The film will screen on June 25, at 7PM, at The Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum, located at 1800 North Congress Avenue. It is FREE for film organizations members and museum members, and $5 for non-members.
