Youth Film Festival Programmer

TERM OF EMPLOYMENT

February 11 - May 2. Part time contract position.

PAY

Salary commensurate with experience.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Youth Film Festival Programmer is responsible for coordinating a Youth Film Jury that will review Youth Film Entries and select the best work to participate in the Emergencia Youth Film Festival. The Youth Film Jury will also decide what films are the winners of the Youth Film Competition, and will be involved in producing the Emergencia Youth Film Festival, as part of the Cine Las Americas International Film Festival.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Manage a database of Emergencia film entries.
• Recruit and coordinate a Youth Film Jury.
• Organize and host a minimum of two screening sessions where the Youth Film Jury will review the films submitted to the festival.
• Meet regularly with CLA Director of Programming with progress updates.
• Create and manage a program schedule for April 18th.
• Work with film festival staff to produce the Emergencia Youth Film Festival on April 18, 2008.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Background in youth development and leadership.
• Capacity to work in fluid, fast paced, youth centered environment.
• Demonstrated commitment to media arts and education.
• Development and supervision skills.
• Teaching and group facilitation skills.
• Cultural competency in working with a diverse group of young people.
• Program coordination experience.
• Experience with DVD authoring and video projection.
• Spanish/English bi-lingual a plus.
• Curriculum development experience is a plus.

ABOUT EMERGENCIA

As a celebration of young filmmakers, Cine Las Americas presents Emergencia, a special competitive section of the festival open to filmmakers ages 19 and under. This section of the festival is curated by students that participate in Cine Las Americas' multicultural Media Literacy programs.
