Trust follows Marlin, a young Hondureña living in Chicago who has lived through some of the harshest cruelties imaginable: sexual abuse followed by severe depression. Propelled by her participation in the Albany Park Theater Project, a neighborhood teen theater company which makes original plays based on company members' stories, Marlin experiences a healthy movement away from identifying herself with those traumas in a documentary that is both uplifting and transformative.

Nancy Kelly, a veteran independent filmmaker of more than 25 years, is director of Smitten, Downside UP, and Thousand Pieces of Gold. Currently she is in production on Moments in Time, about how the Point Reyes National Seashore and Golden Gate National Recreation Area were saved from development.
